I want either or. They would be in a 5 foot and we live down in the cold. I would like a heater in there to stop the tank from going lower 20 degrees. What wattage heater would i need?

The tank is 150cm x 45cm back and 60cm high

Tank that size, cold climate I would go with a 300w heater. You wont NEED that much to hold 20deg, but it will do the job fine if you want to wind it up to 29 when you get a hankering to keep Discus or something in the future. ;)

Oh don't worry ive already got the hankering! I may put them in the tank that im pulling my orandas out of

That's a really big tank, I would go for 2X 200W.

I keep my bristlenoses at 27-28 degrees, a bit towards the higher end but they are doing very well and growing nicely.

22-23 would be a good temperature to keep both brisltenose and borneos in.

I think i should get the heaters, before i get them ill get a thermometer and see what temp my tank sits at. I bet it gets freezing at times!

I have always been told BNs need wood in their diet but I suspect the bottom dweller pellets available these days have enough wood lignin(?) in them to do the job. Don't know though as I've always had driftwood in my tanks
