michael.qian
Just noticed one of the neon tetras has lost an eye!! Swimming near the bottom of the tank, not as active as the others, I can understand that I wouldn't be either if I've just had my eye torn out. It's not damaged, the entire eye ball has gone out of the socket. Still have one good eye left. Anything I can do? Or should I just let him be? Thanks
evilknieval69
I have a platy missing one eye.... just a battle wound or it has torn it on something. It will be fine, as long as it doesnt get an infection of some sort into in... so if you just keep the tank clean as possible (keep the water changes up) it should be fine
michael.qian
Maybe one of my other fish somehow torn it out? One of the clown loaches I've noticed yesterday were up the top waiting to be fed like the other fish and it keeps on going for the small fish (not chasing), just turn its head and the small fish would swim away. the bigget clown who is dominat (I think), when eating the algae disc it would not let anything else touch it, if another clown tries to eat the same disc, the dominant one would chase it away, this is when the smaller fish get a chance to nibble at it. So maybe a clown loach is the culprit here?

Ira
Yeah, it should be fine as long as the eye wasn't lost because of an infection or it doesn't get an infection. Just make sure you feed it food on the good eye side.
michael.qian
Little guy was fine yesterday, but at about 10pm, when the lights are off I noticed him near the filter not moving much, looked like he was going to die. But this morning I was pleasantly surprised nothing was sucked up against the he was swimming fine with the other tetras.
Fmxmatt
Wow strange, I had one of my neons lose an eye this weekend too! Unfortunatly I was a bit too late, he was upside down hiding underneath the branch of a plant
Lady-Lene
Cool - he's ok. I've got a catfish with only one eye and it seems to do fine without it.
