edkath
Hello All I am after some advice with the ligthing of our africian tank it is currently lit via a twin 5 foot fluorescent light that contains 1 x philips life max 58w cool day tube and a sylvania gro lux f 58w tubes (left over from conversion of community tank/no plants in Africian tank) However i am sure that the currently lighting does not do justice to our fish! If i was to stay with the existing fitting what tubes are best? and what other options do i have? would ideally like to remain with the exsiting fitting as it fits with in the exsiting hood on tank. Tank is 1.6m long and 0.6m deep and 0.6m wide Thanks in advance!

malawi_man
for africans it doesn't really matter, just go for a good bright light, although with 2 tubes they wont need to be too bright.
herefishiefishie
I would replace the gro lux with a blue based colour bulb. The mix with the white & blue light works really good with africans. Frenchy

firenzenz
I have 4X 4ft tubes in the 5ft tank. I've played around a bit and am happy with 3X marine whites with a blue at the back. The cool whites seem to bring out colours the best, good for 'pinging' out the oranges and reds.
