Milet
What sort of bricks can be used in aquariums without them causing a reaction or slowly dissintegrating away? Thanks
michael.qian
bricks? what about slate rocks? schist or something along these lines. I've seen slate rocks stacked in an aquarium which looks really good. Don't use antything like limestone because it will slowly dissolve. Ktttk
I use bricks in my tanks - I get them from construction sites - and they don't seem to cause any problems in the tank.
michael.qian
still not sure if bricks are a good idea, they are too powerdery for a start. what about a few small rocks tied to the wood and bury the rocks in the gravel so you can't see it. Navarre
LOL Milet you are not going to beleave this but ..... I have some bricks you can have I will dig them out for you They are white tho not red but they do have holes in them which is why I use them...instant caves. Easy to move to clean around etc etc. They do get a little slimy tho so you have to be careful moving then when wet. HTH Navarre
Caryl
Many people use the reddy/orange drainage pipes for caves for large plecs etc.
Ira
Terracotta, Caryl. Normal red bricks should be ok, just give thema good clean beforehand. I don't think they'll melt.
GeeTee
Most bricks are only baked clay and they will not dissintergrate. They handle years of weather so they will be fine. I too have used them, and they are very easy to use in the fish tank. Regards The Bricklayer
