Dixon1990
Is it normal for two Bristlenose's to be different colours? My Female is quite dark with whitish spots(below) And my male is lighter and yellow spots(below)
cichlid7
That's the same with my pair.
Ianab
My plecos change shade depending on their mood/ time of day/lights/gravel colour etc. It seems normal. Cheers Ian
Afrikan
Yeah I have seen Bristlenoses in different shades, definately as Ianab said, depends on mood, substrate etc
michael.qian
so what's a healthy and happy colour? so I can check on mine and see if they are happy or not. They look happy to me, dark colour with white spots.
Ianab
Yup.. I find they will go paler when they are obviously stressed, like being moved to a new tank. But sometimes they change colour for no reason that I can work out. :-? Cheers Ian
purplecatfish
All of my young bristlenoses are from the same pair and I sometimes I can believe the differences, some have spots that are bright others have faded ones and some have white bands on their fins. I can't work out if any individuals have happiness problems  so I'm going to watch this thread with interest. Personally I wouldn't worry and if there's any babies in the future then there's the ultimate proof.
shadowfax
i am suprised to with the changes in colour, when they are all in the same tank & 1 looks faded & the others fine, also with the difference in markings on bn fry, some are beautiful with very defined markings & others are really plain looking. evilknieval69
I think the two main things that alter their colouring is mood and environment.
