Lady-Lene
Hi all Well the tank is not clearing and have discovered the Eheim 2228 is not working properly. So I'm currently down to AquaOnee 500 to filter 400 ltrs! I've cleaned it out and found that the little thingee that spins around (don't ask me what its called) is very clattery. My Aqua One is smooth and almost noiseless when it spins. Could this be the problem? If so what is it called and where can I buy one from? Failing that .... is there a filter I could buy that would be big enough to do 400 litres by itself. I've heard people talking about FX5 ... what are those? Thanks
Freakyfish
Your talking about the impellor Should be easy enough to get from your LFS If this isnt spinning properly it will be noisy and have a very reduced flow sometimes zero The FX5 is a great filter though alittle big for your tank What are the dimensions? Loopy
you should be able to get a replacement part rather than buying a whole new filter. would be a shame to lose a good cycled filter. the part should hopefully only cost about $15. I think that is about what we have paid to get replacement parts. Sounds like perhapes the ceramic shaft or the outer casing has worn out? Lady-Lene
The FX5 is a great filter though alittle big for your tank What are the dimensions? Yep - just been looking at them and its definitely out coz it won't fit in the cabinet! I'll duck in to my LFS and ask for a new 'impellor' - won't feel like such a ninny now that I know what its called Thanks
Lady-Lene
Does anyone have experience with Atmans? There are some selling on TM at present with built-in UV. Are they a good brand? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 357427.htm
HummingBird
I've got a CF1200, it's been excellent. Some have problems with the taps, but whoever you buy it off will almost definitely replace them if you do too - they're good filters. Tom Gunner
Eric, what size tank do you have the CF1200 running on?
Adrienne
I've got the whole cf range, 500, 700, 1000 and 1200. They are great. Pretty much the same as the atmans.
Lady-Lene
Went ahead and bought the Atmans with the built-in UV. Its turns over 2400 lph so should keep my 400 ltr tank clean! I'll keep you posted on how it goes. It will be lots of water changes til it arrives as tank is already starting to look nasty. My LFS is having trouble finding parts for the Eheim 2228 as they were only on the market a short time and they don't make them now. I wonder if impellor and seals from any other Eheim would fit? I'll try to get it fixed - then I can sell it on along with my AquaOne 500 and get back a little of my money!
HummingBird
The CF1200's on a 490L tank, it does an excellent job. I've also got an Eheim 2010 internal filter in the tank to circulate the water in another corner of the tank, it does 500lph too (apparently). Adrienne
try www.brooklands.co.nz for an impellor (spelling?), they stock most eheim parts.
