illusionz_NZ
I hear that silver dollars can be kept with cichlids....please let me know if this is true and maybe what kind of cichlids. :-? what ph can they handle up too? Cheers!
David R
Of course they can be kept with cichlids, there are plenty of cichlid species that share the same river syspem they inhabit. Infact anything that's not from a rift lake requiring water much harder than neutral should do fine.
Afrikan
I wouldn't say they can go with ANY cichlid.. Silver Dollars are often kept with Oscars, Chocolate Cichlids, Acara, Surinamensis, Jurupari... etc Nothing highly aggressive. A semi aggressive cichlid tank is fine
illusionz_NZ
What about silver sharks? any chance of keeping thee in with cichlids? :-?
Afrikan
Yeap Silver Sharks are fine. Once again not highly aggressive cichlids

Afrikan
Refresh my memory?? I thought you only kept Africans?
illusionz_NZ
DB male, Maleri male, blue peacock male, Comps, red zebras, acaras, dolphins, pleco are in there at present. Just wanting to know if the others are suitable to go in with them.
Afrikan
Oh well do you keep your tank in African buffered conditions? If so I wouldn't suggest Silver Dollars at all. The above fish I mentioned are non rift lake species. (Species that are from the Americas) and of course then you are talking about the Bala Shark that is asian and also needing different water parameters than Rift Lake Cichlids. I personally wouldn't keep either Silver Dollars or Bala Sharks in with Africans JMO Just a thought, how about some suitable Synodontis as something different?
