Conaquavict
I picked this beautiful fella up at my lfs the other day, some guy had left him back as he had become to big for his tank, A case of his loss my gain I think lol. As far as I know it's a Kyoga Flameback, also known as a haplochromis sp all red. (lake victoria basin) The fish peeking out from under him in the first pic is one of my juvie red kadangos. Tropheus
He is nice. I guess the common name is Browns Hap. Very aggressive to their own kind but placid to others. Even as Juvs these little buggers fight. Its a real same we cant get more fish from Lake Vic. Real shame.
Conaquavict
What an awesome fish And as always great pics.. He does look quite big and solid how big is he? He's almost 6" so almost fully grown I reckon. Tropheus I have to agree with you on the victorians, not very often you come across quality fish like this one, guess I was in the right place at the right time. herefishiefishie
Very nice. Good score. Aussies bit more lucky than the kiwis here. We have these in the country. As said above vicious to their own kind. They can fight with similar looking mbuna too. Generally go very well in a community set up. GeeTee
This is mine looks pretty much the same.Just a flameback as far as I know. This one would be 5 inches and at breeding time his colours are twice as good. Goes very red and very black.
herefishiefishie
GeeTee the scientific name of the ones we have here is Haplochromis sp. "Flameback" Some people here have tried to give them a fancy name Pundamilia nyererei but they are a different fish all together. Dam Victorians all look the same  Frenchy
