cichfanatic
HW in Albany has what they say are Cuckoo Synodontis for sale I would be interested in these for my tang tank but they don’t look right to me To dark in colour but maybe I’m wrong Anyone seen these and can identify them? They have been for sale for awhile now Also can anyone recommend a good synodontis available here that gets not to big? And is ideal for a Tanganyika setup Thanks
Afrikan
They bought in a shipment of of Synodontis Njassae (Nyassa) rather some time ago now.. they came in labelled as Cuckoo but turned out to be Nyassa... But the latest shipment that came in as Cuckoos a few months ago are indeed the true Cuckoo, and the price was much more expensive. Is there anyway you can get a pic at all? Here is a link to the Lake Malawi Syno (Nyassa) There is a small spotted variety and a large spotted variety. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=239 And here is a link to the Cuckoo Syno http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=95 You will notice the tail markings are really distinctive to, with a long thick banding of black. cichfanatic
Thanks African The picture of Syno Nyassa looks right to me I’d love to get hold of the cuckoo but hard to find and when they are here obviously get sold quickly Can you recommend any nice cats suitable for tang setup? That don’t get to big
AW
Redwood have some Syno Multis due for release soon (from Quarantine) and I'm planning to get some. I'm getting them to email me some pics to confirm. They're going for $85. If your interested, you should contact them. Seeing as I'm AK as well and having them posted am happy to combine the order to save on shipping if there's a cost saving. Afrikan
Multis going over here (NZ) for $85 is dirt cheap, makes me then wonder if they are the true Cuckoos... once again, it could be something brought in as Cuckoo, however may end up Nyassa... like a last lot that came into the country, the true Cuckoos that came in as the last lot however were the true ones, and they were VERY expensive. If they have got Multis in for that price, then awesome stuff.. The Nyassa alone were retailing for $120 each and the true consignment of Cuckoos were alot more. Afrikan
Can you recommend any nice cats suitable for tang setup? That don’t get to big I am trying to think what could possibly be here that would go in your Tangy tank nicely without getting too large.. hmmmm The Nyassa certainly get rather big, stunning looking fish tho. I have seen so many Synos on the net that I just drool over that we don't get here :-?

Faran
Clown synos are synodontis decorus. Prices range from $80 for small ones at a good price to $200 for adults. Good for tang tanks. Network Synos are also good and a small size. This was a heck of a bargain - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 788026.htm - expect to pay $50 to $150 for one... if you can find one. Afrikan
Synodontis decorus are retailing at the moment at 6cm, for around $52 each. Blue that TM link looks exactly like my Vermiculated Synodontis that came in on the lists rather a while back.. just had a measure up and he is around the 15cm mark
Alan
Seller Comment: fish not for sale any longer 11:49 am, Thu 29 Mar Seller Comment: Please dont bid as this fish is unwell and cant be sold 11:55 am, Thu 29 Mar http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 788026.htm - This looks like one of " THOSE" auctions. Didn't get what they wanted, even tho it made the reserve, so it was withdrawn. Well? That's what they said happened. Or was it just that someone made a private deal?? I'll settle for the last
Faran
Ah, forgot about that. someone in the q&a made an offer for the discus and syno and I think they got both for an excellent price... Back in Feb someone was selling a large decorated/clown syno. FNZAS username is "mooloo" if you want to send them a PM and see if they have any large synos left. Alan
and ppl wonder why the Admin here don't permit questions on here about TM deals. Ya know why now, huh?? That stinks, I'd be highly irate if I was one of the bidders.
Afrikan
Didn't even read the Q&A section Alan, good spotting, I am with your thoughts, that someone made a deal behind TM auction, that stinks :-?
