Hi there all

Got some cultivated LR on the weekend from LFS and man o man was it full of critterz :D 2 of which are sea spiders, I think, at least from what I've seen on the net.

Have a look here:

SeaSpider.jpg

It's about 1cm in size and has 8 legs.

Can anyone can help identify :o Also if it is a Sea Spider, should I be removing it? From what I've read so far on some forums, most say to remove. Experiences anyone :-?

Thanks Guys

Exterminate it. They cause trouble from what i've seen. You might want to get rid of that star fish too.

One of the reasons I always like to start from dry rock is that you don't get all these parasites, and the crap some people refer to as "life".

local sea water introduced crads that eat the pest starfish in my tank. Those raglan locals are tuff.

Seen a crab waving one around... :hail::hail: (locals rule,, oh and the waves too    )

, no need to start surfing it no fun.... you hear... haha

so all other non-bacterial "life" just appears out of the blue? you get the bad with the good, something you learn all too well on forums too :D

Do you expect that a tank started with dry rock, which then has fish and corals added, doesn't end up with pods, mysis, bristleworms, etc in it?

The problem isn't getting these things into the tank, it's keeping them out of it.

None of that stuff you mentioned really helps clean up, they're just another waste producing step in the chain. Just tagging along for the ride.

To me it seems that "biodiversity" is just one of those feel good words people love to hear and use.
