Do BNs jump?

Got my first hara kiri BN today. There was a tiny 1cm gap where the airline comes out of the fish tank, and the BN must have jumped out through there. (was a baby BN).

However, the BN was slightly larger than 2-3cm ish, so how did it managed to squeeze itself through? I dont see how a BN could have jumped through it. Any thoughts on how I can prevent this? I've put back the proper lid instead of just a sheet of plastic just to be safe.

They definitely suck themselves out of the water rather quickly. Have watched some babies do that in a bucket with very little water at the bottom, they came over half the height of the bucket until they gave up. In a 3/4 full one they would have definitely sucked themselves over the top...

I put a load of medium to large BNs in a half full 60L plastic container (the ones you can buy from the Warehouse) on the fish room floor and walked in the next morning to find half of them on the floor. Turns out the heater was off and they didn't like the temps going up and down. Anyways, I picked them up and plucked off the hair and put them back in the water to find that all but one were still alive. Not my first time finding BNs on the floor hours or even a day later and they still survive.
