ryanjury
Am also looking for peacocks.. So far I have the following peacocks: Maleri reds (possibly 2 different colour types would say locations but thats a no no now ) dragons bloods, chilumba, ob's and red shoulders.. Randoms Red and ice blue zebs, scolofi, giraffes, kadango's, electras, demasoni, yellows, lionheads and a whole heap more I most likely cant remember at this stage.. Probably getting rid of most the randoms to get into the peacocks/haps a bit more once I can find some good ones that I dont already have! If anyone has anything let me know. Africans... pair red shoulder peacocks and 11 young, young pair of lionheads ( lionheads are supposedly f1 ) . Apistogramma... panduro, angel spot, biteaniata, cockatoo, baenschi aka inka 50, cf eunotus, unknown may be cruzi, trifasciata, agassizi, cf norberti and maulbruter. By the way any one know how largelion heads have to be before they are breeding size??
ryanjury
loinheads need to be pretty big maybe 10cm plus I have some and know some others with what I would call relatively big ones and they haven't bred yet... How did you end up with supposidly F1 ones?
caserole
The guy selling ??ahli?? ( you know ) on trade me had them, even if there not f1's there nice fish, cheap too for the size ( female is now 4cm - male 5.5cm, have grown at least 1cm since I got them )and growing fast now theres no competition for food. herefishiefishie
Sorry will go off topic, possibly 2 different colour types would say locations but thats a no no now Who said you can't? It's only people been saying you can't add variants to fish, that is all. If they came in with a variant all sweet. I here someone is calling his Maleri reds, Chidunga rocks. We call Maleri reds, sunshine peacocks here.{last part for Brad, if he reads & goes I have heard of only Maleri Gold  } Just a note Ryan, be careful if you think they are 2 different varients. I have seen one persons rubin reds, they looked like maleri Golds to me. Very goldy yellow in colour. Rather than the orange/reddish colour. You may have 2 different species & these 2 species cross breed very easily. Just incase importers or wholesalers had a mix up. The guy selling ??ahli?? ( you know ) on trade me had them, even if there not f1's there nice fish I put a zillion on them being not ahli too, also F1 lionheads, can he prove that? ryanjury
yeah I got them from 2 different sources at 2 different times both the sources got the parents from one shipment at the same time so yeah who knows what they are... I am well aware of pretty much any peacock cross breeding and keep all my peacocks seperate even these 2 that I think may be the same thing until they are big enough for me to tell what they are exactly I will post pics when they are muture enough to colour up both on here and cichlid-forum as I do with most my fish just to be sure
herefishiefishie
I have seen red maleris from another member, I called them sunshines until I noted different common name different county was the same fish  Cool, just was worried when you said Maleri reds (possibly 2 different colour types As you know, dam females are hard to tell. ryanjury
lol id go one further than dam hard to tell and say almost impossible.. Which is why ive had to start with young fish from people I know got the fish at the same time and kept them pure its so easy to get crap these days... All my peacocks are seperate except for the ones I can tell the difference between ie ob peacocks even then im sticking them in their own tank to breed from its just not worth the hassle or risk of putting more rubbish out there
