alextret
For how much time would I need to keep guppy females in isolation (from males) to ensure that they are no longer pregnant?
Steves Killies
Atleast 3 months i reckon, they give birth about every month, and the girls can carry her mans good stuff for atleast 3-4 drops of fry. May be easier to separate some virgin females and grow them up,if you have any fry..that way you are more gauranteed to get want you want out of the male. im no sexpert so maybe a more knowledgable(KA)person maybe able to help you
Keri Anne
I've read (on guppy designer) that you need to have no fry from her for 6 mths to be sure that she's not storing sperm. It would be quicker to collect 1 batch of fry, sex them at about 3-5 weeks old by removing all that you are sure are females (keep rechecking in case you've made a mistake) and grow your own virgins. - This is what I do. alanmin4304
I agree, it also gives you the chance to feed up your females and get some size on them before they become gravid.
