michael.qian
I had 10 red ramshorn snails and they have destroyed all my Indian fern plants, so I had to get rid of them. Looking at those yellow apple snails, they look bright yellow and very attractive do they eat plants as well? I got those ramshorns in an attempt to control algae, it did a fair job but the sacrifice was my plants, which I wasn't prepared to make. Thanks
HandS
I was looking at getting red ramshorn snails, but if they eat plants, ill give them a miss. The yellow apple snails are really bad plant eaters, they eat almost any plant put in front of them. I know alot of people (including myself) have had "mistry snails" aka brown apple snails in planted tanks with no problems at all but i find they are not that great at eating the algae eather  . The best way to control algae is to get in some Plec's, BN's or Otto's depending on what is in your tank, and the size of your tank. meesheelly
I have red ramshorns in all my tanks and they dont touch the plants. did they eat anything other than indian fern?
michael.qian
The indian fern was all eaten up but the other plants were untouched. That's might be because the indian fern is the only small leave plant and all the other I had have fairly large leaves?
Adrienne
Golden apple snails will definately eat your plants. Avoid them in planted aquariums at all costs.
