Waxworms - anyone ever cultured these?

Ive got some waxworms and theyve bred no problem but as they chew out of plastic and wood containers im just wundering what other ppl have used for the culturing container??

Other question is do they only chew out of a container if they run out of food or at a certain size maybe??

Ive got them in a jar with the lid on tight but dont have enough jars to get more cutures going and they need some sort of ventilation if possible.

Hi Jim

Um theyre a small moth which generally is found in beehives and is a well known pest to bee-keepers, the moth has larvae which are known as the waxworm, theyre very similiar to mealworms although abit bigger/fatter.

Theres a pic on this website which ive found usefull,

metal baking tins sounds like a good idea, I have been saving the tins from tinned-fruit for the same reason and have some fine wiremesh which may work although its not as fine as the stuff from biosupplies and the baby waxworms are tiny so may still get through it, otherwise im wundering maybe when theyre young they cant chew through fine material so could use material and mesh on top, otherwise maybe they only chew out when the food runs out so no need to worry if i keep them well fed.

I just wanted any feedback preferably from ppl who have breed these as ya cant beat first hand experience, its probably quite simple as most websites just say a jar with mesh lid and ive seen plastic containers with plastic lids hence why i think maybe if theyve gt food then they wont wanna chew out.

Jim - I geuss they could be fed to fish but been fatty id say only every now and again, and same with lizards, turtles, frogs etc etc
