Rockerpeller
Ok finally into the 4ft tank build... The Jebo 819 filter arrived today in the post so I had no excuse to put the tank off any longer. Substrate was aquatic mix and riverstone pebble. I'm gonna be adding in plants over the next few days so I'll keep everyone posted in this thread. Jebo 819 in place. In case someone wanted to know this is a 1200lph filter. Plumbing in place. Topview onto the riverstone pebble Full tank shot after it was filled with water. You may notice that theres an overflow pipe in the corner. I didn't want to block this up as I do want to put these to use in the future so i just added a longer downpipe. In the opposite corner at the top is a return hole that was drilled. That hole has been plugged as well for future use. The contents of this tank will be the contents from the 2 2ft tanks that I've been running for the last 4 or so months. Faran
Really nice, mate! But... why go over the top when you already have proper holes with Hansen fittings? Today I was just looking at the bits that fit onto them and allow for your filter hoses to connect straight to em. Might be a thought? Rockerpeller
thats what i was planning to do but can't find all the bits just yet. i don't mind putting the intake and outlet tubing over the top of the tank for now. thats why i just wanted to plug the holes rather then block them off for good. Faran
Mico plastics has just about everything for tank fittings you'll ever need. Stainless Steel strainers (called foot valves), hose connectors, the works. Head on down and have a chat with them. Be sure and measure the inner diameter of your fitting and the diameter of the thread before you go as it can get confusing unless you have the fitting in hand. Best of luck, and we eagerly anticipate your next update!
Rockerpeller
yup i'll do that today. got no plans so i'll check them out. cheers
Rockerpeller
FRUSTRATION !!! had to break the tank down today... pinhole leak coming from the front pane of glass at the bottom  . broke the tank down, and resealed the front pane. hope it holds. not too keen on 200+ litres (still haven't worked out the literage) all over the lounge floor. will keep everyone posted. test fill in a weeks time. should be long enough to cure the silicone, and give me some time to get the fittings for the cannister filter. *fingers crossed*
Rockerpeller
finally after much deliberation i have finally rebuilt the tank, got some hansen fittings to fit the filter thru the glass, and picked up a decent piece of driftwood, added plants but still after some backdrop plants if anyone can suggest some. it took so long because i knew i had to move and i've only just settled down in my new place. luckily i cycled the filter on my gfs tank so the cycle time should be cut down. here's a few pics of the tank. enjoy Full shot: Filter Intake side: Filter Return side: Left side: Right side:

TurtleOwner
Those inlets and outlets are like drilled thru the glass right? then hooked up via, like hasen (sp) tank connections right, (can't remember the probably name  ) I want to do that when I get a bigger tank, but so affraid of leakage
davidb
yep those are hansen fittings turtle owner. most of us reef keepers have them plumbed to our sumps
Rockerpeller
yup hansen fittings thru the glass. it is way cleaner then dropping the hoses over the top. there's enough with all the power wires goin in as it is. lol
