carla
Found this website which claims: Our goal is to help you combat algae problems naturally, without the use of harmful chemicals. click here to see The Algae Squad! Interesting list of fish that supposedly eat algae in your tanks.

Ianab
I have various plecos and they do a pretty good job at cleaning up the algae, just a pity some of them get so big. Good excuse to buy a bigger tank of course Ian

alanmin4304
Eating algae is good but eating algae and plant is not so good.
Ianab
What would you suggest for a good starter plec? Otos are good for a community tank, they dont grow very big (1-2") and dont eat plants. Get several as they are social fish and like being in a group. Britlenose are good to, only grow to 4-6" and are both tough and peacefull. Gibby's and common plecos are great when they are small, but soon grow into clumsy 12" long tankbusters that will eat anything that doesn't swim away Great if you have a big tank though, they are tough and will live happily with just about anything else. Good tankmates for a Oscar or similar, fine with small fish too, but what plants they dont eat they will blunder into and wreck that way :-? Cheers Ian
