Fresh fruit and veges

Here's my beef-heart mix. It has many fruit and veg in it so I suppose it classes correctly, - although the fish are not directly eating one specific fruit or veg...

500g beef-heart (all membrane and sinew removed)

500g shrimp

4 carrots lightly cooked

2 big silverbeat leaves lightly cooked

250g peas

4 banana's

3 pears

50g spirulena powder

Stick everything into a blender until finely chopped up. Mix all ingredients very well in a big tub. Freeze in convenient sized bags. Squash the bag flat so it is only 10-12mm thick. Makes it easy to chop up while still frozen.

Very interested in this discussion. I only have coldwater goldfish, which I sometimes feed a slice of courgette to.

Didn't realise you can give them all sorts of fruit and vege. Is it okay to try different types with coldwater goldfish? I notice all of yours are tropical.

Many thanks

Julie

My baby Platy's nibble on my finger, and Helen says I'm a vegetable if that counts?

Only veges we actually feed are courgette to the GBAs (sliced and weighed down with either plant weights, or a small screw) and occasionally to our large plecs, however it seems they much prefer meat, our foot long common loves whole prawns.

We also mix peas in our beefheart mix for the oscars, and will soon be adding Spinach to future mixes.

Garlic is also added to make mixes smell nice, and I read that sharn read that garlic makes food more appetising to fish.
