shadowfax Posted December 23, 2006 Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 i have a 3 ft tank that had mice in it & some of the silicon was peeling off & was really thin in places so i want to reseal it, do i need to remove all of the old silicon from the inside or just the flaky pieces? thanks. Alan Posted December 23, 2006 Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 The real seal is where the mice could not get at it, between the two pieces of joining glass. Best for appearance sake that all the fillet is removed and relay it again. Otherwise you could have places where water could film in and you'd get an unsightly algae growth, growing there. To do it I use a small piece of glass, still raw from being cut. It cuts it out the fillet perfectly, you just have to do the corners by hand with a knife, but mind your hands, the glass is extremely sharp. shadowfax Posted December 23, 2006 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 thanks, also the top supports had been cut off but they where inside the tank not across the top of the tank, do they need to be across the top or would it be fine to put them back inside? the tank is only 48cm wide & 48cm high.
