reef Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2007 if only we all had the money to go out and buy a new co2 setup, under gravel heating, temp controller, nice fish, nice tank After having a reef tank setting up a freshwater tank is peanuts. it is so cheap. bli Posted January 8, 2007 Report Share Posted January 8, 2007 Hi, I am also setting up a planted discus aquarium, Just got the tank last week. How much benefit does the substrate heater give in terms of optimal plant growth. At the moment I have 4 x 30w arcadia tubes for a 70 Gallon tank. What would be your advice in terms of plant base to put under the sand, and do you know of what type of sand I should be looking at getting and where. reef Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2007 there are many goods substrates these days. seachem jbl aquabases red sea the seachem stuff is quite good. not cheap but lots of good reviews. not seen any white sand, however i dont think it matters as once the plants grow you wont see the sand. white sand is also hard to keep clean Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
