davidb
hey does anyone use that betta peaty water? Can you even get it in new zealand? I saw in PFK a few months ago and it is apparently really good for fighters. it is in concentrate form...
Jettin
You can just buy peat and out it into the water or your filter. But im sure theres no specific betta peat product in nz.
jude
Just make sure its straight peat with no additives though
Aaron-Betta
Does the peat alter the ph or water hardness? I have a problem with the tap waters ph being to low so i was told to use oyster shells in my filter, the downside to that was that it hardens the water. I am having to buy purified water from the supermarket which has a ph of around 7 to 7.2, but it is getting too expensive to do water changes. Does anyone have the "ideal" solution? Luke*
Yes peat softens the water and lowers the pH. Don't worry about the pH or hardness, the fish will be fine. If you want to offset it though put a stocking full of peat in your filter, it'll last a month (straight peat, not boiled) edit: trust you ant! ah soo tired edit2: Antwan says: nice gramar lol
