Aquarium Dude
Has anyone got a custom tank from critter kingdom on blenhim road Just wondering if the edges of the glass are factory cut or if they are hand cut and perhaps a little rough. AMAZONIAN
Why worry. If you are thinking of buying then you negotiate the price accordingly. I've known the owner and his wfe, (and son) for near 35 years and I would have no hesitation buying a custom tank from them. If the edges are a bit rough you can rub them down with a carborundum stone.
alanmin4304
To the best of my knowledge all glass is cut the same way no matter who cuts it. The only way it looks better is when you buy glass cut in china where the edges are polished and the hourly rate is a lot less than here. When cutting thicker glass like 10 or 12mm you can get a distortion on the cut when you first start it but a good cutter can organise so this part becomes the waste. Aquarium Dude
What happened?
me love fishy
I bought an aquarium ornament from there, got it home put it in the tank and a piece snapped off it, not through anything I had done, it must've been cracked or weakened already. So I took it back with the receipt and the pricetag and they would not exchange it, they blamed me and said how do they know I didn't drop it and then bring it back and then made excuses about how they would have to talk to the supplier etc so I would have to wait until they talked to the supplier and see what they said and tried to take it off me. I said no my contract was with you not the supplier and I didn't break it and you can see I only bought it yesterday I want a refund and they wouldn't do it, so I took my broken ornament left the shop and vowed never ever to go back there and I never have. Very bad way to treat customers!!!
Aquarium Dude
I have always found that they give brilliant advice and dont try and sell you all the chemicals and this that and the next thing, like OTHER shops in chch do. AMAZONIAN
HI All I'll jump to the defence of the owners of C.C as they are as honest as the day is long. They are the only people that I know that are in business but it's only for the hobby, not the profit.
Aquarium Dude
I second that
Aquagold
I think we have all had a bad experience shopping at a shop at some stage but if it continues then we don't go back.... they are a great couple to deal with and they hobbyists who love their work. Their prices are very good as well. Still Christchurch does have the biggest pet ratio per population in NZ...
AMAZONIAN
Hi All Yep, if the shop or the staff are NO DAMNED GOOD we just dont go near that shop. Thanks for the statistics Aquagold.
