Aquarium Dude
bit on the expensive side unfotunately but how about a box filter, by this I mean like a sump but in the tank. It would be 10% of the tanks volume. It would have an inlet on one side of the compartment and then the compartment would be filled with filter media and then have a return pump on the opposite side to the inlet. davidb
what would you use to power it? you could use a really strong air pump but I think it would be quite cool if you used a powerhead-that would work I think- ask arould. I have always wanted to make an in-tank sump one day. I was thinking about making it by having a false back the whole way across the back of the tank made out of black or dark blue plastic- slightly lower than the water level so the water flows over it and through the filter material which is in a nittle container you can lift out. then you would need a hole in the bottom of the false back and you could have a power filter in there pumping the clean water from the little sump back into the main tank. Ingenious but most likely flawed
Aquarium Dude
Like your idea. but the tank I will use has a hidden end as it is on the corner of a cabinet so the only way to see it would be looking through the side towards the other side I thought that an eheim 1000 pump might do the trick and you could also have a heater in the clean bit. Definetly have the seperator wall shorter than the rest so that there is no possible way water could get out of the tank and so that it would be imposssible for the pump to burn out.
