JDM
I went to raglan tonight to collect some NSW, after having been there a while i was fulling my 4th or 5th drum when a lovely older couple were walking by, they must have been going for an evening walk by the shore. having noticed some crazy man fulling water containers from the sea, curiosity must have got the better of them and they came for a closer look. "what is it your doing here the man asked" "I'm collecting salt water" i replied. "what the devil for?" he said, "well you see, i have developed an engine that will revolutionise the way we travel, my new invention runs on salt water and will soon replace the combustion engine of today" well, the stunned look on both there faces was priceless! i couldn't help but burst out larfing! "oh so your pulling our chain" the lady replied. "yes" i said, "its for a fish tank"....... we spoke for a little while about fuel prices and current events, then they continued on, i could hear there larfter as they walked away, with a "good luck with your inventions" coming out of the fading daylight. tee-em
Okay this has not happened yet but one day I will have the courage to pull it off... I have had people really stare when reversing down the boat ramp with no trailer or boat. I have also expereinced where I greet people on the ramp and have no response. They are so intent/focused on trying to figure out what I am up to that I am invisible to them. One day I will have the courage to reverse the "invisible boat down" do all the normal imaginery things you do when launching a boat .... then ask someone to hold the boat while I park the imaginery trailer... One day...

HelifaxNZ
I was showing my mum the tank and I could see her eyes widen. The first thing she said was "Can you eat that?" pointing at my cleaner shrimp!
farmchick
have you ever sat in your car on the side of the road aiming a hair dryer at the passing cars??? We did and its amazing how many cars will slow down thinking its a radar gun. Mind you, you have to be ready to put it away REAL quick if a cop car comes because apparently "its just imbecilic" but funny all the same

jetskisteve
a few years ago ( read b4 kids) A bunch of us used to ski down from the waterski club & out to jump the surf in front of Fays.. well i was doing about 55mph- luckily with a crash helmet on when my ski suddenly STOPPED as you can imagine i went face first over the bars bashing the front of my ski sliding into the sandbar I took a few minutes to figure what the hell had happened! It took 4 of us to drag it back out into deeper water, Funny after that i always went a bit slower up their :-?

wasp
OK well here's one with a similar theme, from when I was a young guy flatting in Gisborne. My flatmates Dad had a boat & somebody borrowed some skis. None of us had skied before but we headed to the beach to give this a shot. There was another boat skiing so we watched for a while first. These guys were pros & when they finished they would swoop in near the beach, let go the rope, and cruise in just stopping at the water edge to give the skiis to the next guy. So the first one of our guys to get the hang of it and actually stand up on the skiis, was also the guy who always knew / could do everything  . So he actually did pretty good, skied around a bit then thought he would imitate the other guys & let go of the rope & glide into the beach. Trouble was he mis calculated and came in way faster than he meant, hit the beach super fast & catapulted out of the skiis, hurtled up the beach, and was eventually stopped by the other flatmates car, which he put a major dent in with his head!  This whole thing was witnessed by everybody on the beach, causing huge amusement. He told me later that he got hurt pretty bad & was furious at everybody running round laughing but couldn't do anything cos he was half knocked out! BTW he was a panelbeater so was able to fix the guys car.
Fay
hehe We skied when we were young and silly our son who was only a tot out did us all skiing on a single ski (the smallest ski you have ever seen). When frog was learning he got the rope wrapped around his man hood between his legs and got dragged up side down sweeping the lake with his head, I said to him why the hell didn't you just let go  (rope burn)
