nicmack
Hi, I have an aqua one 980 225 litre tank withsome discus in it who I know are very particular about their water quality - is it worth getting an external filter to help this processor is the standard filter supplied adequate? I have been trying to get the setails on how powerful the existing filter is but seem to get conflicting info - one site said 1000l p/h? any advice greatly appreciated... sharn
most of those inbuilt filters arent really that great ive read so i would think its a good idea to get a canister on there. if you like you can put a sponge on the inlet of the canister that will catch alot of the particles going into the filter, just take the sponges off and rinse them each water change and that helps reduce gunk in your filter and then you dont need to clean it as often

quack
hey, i have an ar980 too, they are 215l and the pump in them is 900lph (well mine is) i took out the carbon supplied and replaced it with more noodles and other bio media. i also drilled the holes out bigger in the spray bar. ive had some rather large bio loads(lots of fish) in the tank at times and havnt had any problems with keeping ammo and nitrite at 0ppm
ljtan55
I've got a Jebo 790 255 Litre with hood filter. Good but, after a while, it really get glunked up. Use an external filter as well, can never overfiltrate a tank. Also it saves you from one day coming home to a cloudy tank with dead/sick fish and a clogged up hood filter.
