Feelers
Well What do you guys think? A good deal? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=75872502 I got it for $700, but I have to make it all the way out to Ashvegas, which is probably why it's so cheap. I plan on getting the tank, selling the filter, selling the pump, selling all the fish and corals. Then I'll sell whatever's left, and hopefully I should have picked up the tank and stand for a really good price. I'll then sell my old crap tank, and stand and it should work out that I got a good system el cheapo. Comments?
Feelers
Can someone tell me what that is in the top right corner? Is that a tunze? It would be nice if it was.
Duke
Looks like a hell deal, I sold my 4ft 300l tank which looked the same for $600 with nothing. If you sell all the other stuff it will be a cheap tank. Well done.

wasp
Congratulations, finally you are in business! :bounce: Your plan sounds good, and it's a nice looking tank. The thing at top right, it's an el cheapo alternating pump that always gum up & the alternating bit never works right. But hey, it's a pump. Feelers
So it isnt a tunze then? I was thinking it looked like the old ones... ???
wasp
Oops, you're right it IS a Tunze, now I see it close up. Good score! You still going to do octopus, or something more conventional?
Feelers
WAHOOOOO so it is a tunze you think! :D Does that mean it has the electronic controller etc? How do you guys suggest moving this thing? I'll have a trailer - but I thinking about trying to keep all the water, it is worth it? How would I go about this... :-? Ummm in terms of what I'm doing it's all up in the air right now, I don't really know, but I had to jump on this deal. I think I could have one of the best chilled tanks around with an octopus and local fauna - anenomes etc, often most do rock pool setups without skimmers etc, (although I still need a serious skimmer). Its very much up in the air. 450L is a serious tank, its another setup from my current one.
wasp
Don't know about the controller, Reef would know. If you use a trailer make sure it's not a stiff springed bouncy type one. 1/2 ton of water not sure how you'll move that, I use 20 litre containers but you'd need a lot of them. Looking forward to seeing how this goes, I know you will do something interesting. That rock of yours still in the sea? If so by now there is probably a complete cold water aquarium of critters living on it ready for direct transplant to your tank!
lduncan
WAHOOOOO so it is a tunze you think! :D Does that mean it has the electronic controller etc? It looks similar to a turbelle PH. Some models are controllable other aren't. How do you guys suggest moving this thing? I'll have a trailer - but I thinking about trying to keep all the water, it is worth it? How would I go about this... :-? I wouldn't bother moving all the water. Luck there is only a handful of livestock in it. Put them in a polybox, the rock into a bin submerged in water. And you might wan't to take the opportunity to clean the sand out ;-) Layton
Feelers
I have a question or two about moving all the fish etc. I have a 90L tank that was previously going to be used for a sump. If I chucked all the fish and corals in there with the filter attatched (2 clownfish, anenome sailfin tang and I'm not sure how many soft corals) - will they be ok? I'm not sure whether this would be big enough to hold them till they are sold?
wasp
I've had more in less, long as your filtration is adequate should be fine.
Feelers
Oh another thing I should point out - what should I do about lighting in my small 90L? I'm thinking of the anenome primarily. I dont know how long I'll have them, say two weeks max I'd imagine. Wasp have pm'd you with some questions, as I ofen tend to do. petplanet
Score! Easiest way to move: Use your 90 litre tank to have saltwater ready to go at home Get lots of large plastic containers/bins/chilly bins - those large plastic containers with wheels and lid are great. Lots of plastic rubbish bags Rubbish bags go in the bins - stops water splashing out. Fill containers with rocks and corals for transporting - covering with water. If the anemone is attached to a rock, move it rock and all. Don't try and detach. Same with fish. Put some water in another container (you want to take 80-90 of the water out clean) Scope out the sand bed and put in another container with water - by scoping it out you will leave most of the crap behind. Move the tank (empty) and everything else at the same time if you can. Put it back together at your place and add water from your 90 litre tank to fill. Don't worry about everything cooling - it will be fine. I would leave everything in the original tank and sell it from there. It will be stressful enough moving them.
