killifan
Hi folks, I had a pregnant swordtail, enlarged tummy and black spot and all then I vacuumed thetank. Later on i noticed no swelling and no black spot! Is there a connection and atwhat stage do you separate the female. Is it ok to put her just into a breeding net? Alan
Best to put a fish like that into another 'maternity' tank. The B-nets are just that. Too small and can make the fish using them, abort.

Alan
That's the joy of being a fish-breeder. With experiance you'll be able to tell from the shape of her, and try to get her out about a week before she's due. The pregnancy length depends on her conditions, prolly 4 to 6 weeks, maybe more. As for the babies; when the can't fit into the mouths of their tank mates. Make sure you have a lot of small leaved plants, so they can be a little more secure. Yeah. More tanks. But if you are anything like your nic, you'll have them all ready. LOL
Caryl
A well planted tank with lots of fine leaved plants lie sprite and Java moss will give the fry plenty of hiding places without having to separate them.
