kylejmorrison
Hi I really want a Siamese Fighter i would keep it in one of the "betta containers" it has four sections. Are these really big enough for them its 31.5cm Long x 5cm Wide x 10cm High. What ph does these fish prefer. and is there anyone selling in christchurch. meesheelly
depending on what you keep it with it doesnt and shouldnt be in the container. If you are uncertian about a fish try googling it and you can find some really good sites that have compatibility and requirements and stuff. I have a male and female who live happiliy in my community tank. No containers necessary. Just wact out for nippy fish or ones with long or colourful fins as this can lead to problems. fishboi
nooooo if u like ur fish dont put it in a container its worse than having gold fish in a fish bowl. sure it would keep them alive for a good while but they sure wouldn't be happy. people can live in a dirty old jail cell but we sure dont like it, at least i wouldn't  do research before buying any fish give it the right set up they deserve

me love fishy
Siamese fighters are generally okay with other fish that go in a community tank. They are not particularly aggressive IMHO. I have one in with some gouramis, angels, congo tetras, serpae tetras, golden algae eater and BN. I also used to have one in with some cardinal tetras and harlequin rasboras. The only community fish I would be concerned with are fin nippers like barbs as a beautiful male fighter would be a prime target for them. Others might say different, I have never had barbs, but this is what I have heard about them frequently. You can get them in Chch from most pet stores that sell fish, try animates, petworld on Ferry Road or Critter Kingdom on Stanmore Road, I find those places usually have good stocks, so you can have a choice of colours. There are other stores in chch (not to promote any particular store), but the above are the ones I frequent the most. As said previously, definitely don't keep them in those little containers, very cruel IMHO, I think they do it in the petstores so their fins won't get nipped, and you can't have more than one male together as they will fight. Good luck in choosing your fighter, there are some really beautiful ones out there.
