rcon021
they are about Ikola - 2 weeks, pemba 1.5 weeks, Duboisi 2.5weeks. I will think about selling them at a later date, i need to increase my colony size. I have a few people wating them.

ryanjury
They dont have many do they? Are they still young? Or is it just usual for tropheus to have less fry? How many of each do you have in your colonies?
rcon021
No they don't have many young. The most in a batch that i have got so far is 12 which is from the biggest female ikola. They are about 1cm at the moment. I don't really know how many ikola i have. I should have about 20ish. Pemba I think i have about 7-8, Duboisi i have only 2, the male killed the others i had
ryanjury
Do you let them spit in the tank with the parents or strip them? Are all your tropheus in together or in seperate tanks.
rcon021
I did research and then put them in together. If they were the same type but 2 different varients like T. Duboisi White band and T. Duboisi yellow band, then wouldn't have done it. There are chances that they may interbreed, but i havn't seen them courting the other types. ryanjury
Must be an awesome looking setup esp when you grow a few of the younger ones up Do they spit and leave the babies alone?
rcon021
no you will have to take them out. I take out the fry when i know that they mother is just about to spit...her mouth is always a bit open, the stomach has a pouch under it..thats when i take them out. Before i have taken them out sooner and kept losing the fry
Tiden
Do you know how far along that is usaully? Is it somewhere between 3 and 4 weeks of holding or?
rcon021
once i let the female spit into the tank which took about 5-6 weeks i would say but then again my tank is at 25 degrees
Tiden
They take there time then dont they  Mine is at 3wks. She has 4 I can see and I also took 3 fry out the other day that were floating so I guess she is cutting down on numbers as they get bigger perhaps. She is only bout 7-8cm roughly. You can see 2 of the kids with dad on the left and mum on the right but you can only see her head and tail under the red belly of another fishy. If you are good you may even spot a Synodontis in there Better pic of kids And Mum
