Cyberfin
I have a 200l tank in which I keep 8 large oranda. The temperature is consistently 20 degC. This is a bit on the cool site for loaches but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a species or two that doesn't mind this temperature. The Dojo (Spotted Weather) Loach and the Stone Loach enjoy cooler temps but I'm unaware if they are available in NZ. Would be grateful for your thoughts
ljtan55
Hillstream loach? Its other name is borneo sucker, and the're quite common. They dun mind cooler temperatures and they're ok with goldfish not big enough to eat them. If you ask at Pet Warehouse near the warehouse or pet planet in Northeast Valley they might be able to order some in. Good luck with the hunt. sharn
they are neat little things that prefer the cooler temps (like 20-24 i think) and prefer fast moving water but dont need it. very good at algae eating too i found, my one cleaned my beautiful fluffy algae i had tried so long to grow off my decoration

'Scales n Tails' Sth Dunedin The Borneo sounds worth a look. I'll check it out Cheers

Sirkus
you have probably got the fish already but its possible to keep bristlenose catfish (Ancistrus) in cooler water down to about 19 degrees, doesnt always work but has about a 90% chance of working. just an idea. Cyberfin
Thanks Kris. I forgot to mention I already have a couple of bristle noses. They seem to have adapted well.
