Tsarmina
it seems that i may lose my other pleco. she has been moved to a seperate tank for melafix treatment as her tail is falling apart and her fins are tattered. she is breathing very lightly and doesn't move unless removed from water (i thought she had died) and then its only very slight movement. i will be very surprised if she lasts the night. did a parameter test on tank before doing a %50 water change Ph: 6.0 Ammonia: 0.25 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 40 tank has been running for a few months and the only fish in there were the 2 plecs and a BGK (who is now the only resident)

ljtan55
Sunken eyes are possibly a sign that she probably hasn't been eating for some time. Hope she pulls through!
Tsarmina
lost her this morning no plecos left now Mac the BGK has a tank all to himself.
Caryl
Sorry to hear that. Why are your nitrates so high?
Tsarmina
i am wondering that myself. i do weeekly water changes of about 10 - 20% and there were only the 3 fish in there and every morning i remove any uneaten food and larger pieces of fish poop. had this issue with another tank a while ago. i ended up completely stripping the tank. that one has been recently set up again as my tetra tank.
