BigDaddy
Ok my female and male betta have been in a 10 gal tank filled with 6 inchs of water depth for better part of 24 hours.I introduced the male to the tank first as i was told to do i put the female in the tank but kept her in a breeding net so she can get use to the tank and the male. The temp in the tank is 80-81 F, I didnt release her into the tank untill 24 hours at this time she had her vertical stripes and the male had a very nice bubble nest But like i said it has been 24 hours now she has been under the nest 3 times now but when he goes to make a move she takes off and he chases her he also will swim to her than b4 gettin to her flares gills and goes to nest ( He will do this 5 to 6 times then chases her around). She has tears in her anal and abdomin fins should i be concered that it has been so long or should i stick it out for little longer or is there something im doing wrong here? Also since she has been introduced to tank and him neither have eaten is that normal? :-? confused someone please help
dave01
hello there, Well im not too much of an expert on bettas big daddy but I have a little experience(and luck) with breeding them in the past. so anyone that feels they can correct me feel free. I read an article that I thought was pretty gd recently. the breeder does as you have done putting the female into the tank with the male partitioned off so she can get used to conditions but still see the male. When she has the vertical lines and is flaring back at the male he then feeds them that night, takes out the partition and turns out the light. He says nine times out of ten by ten oclock the next morn there is eggs in the bubble nest and the female is hidding behind the plant under cover. Not too sure why yours havent been eating, maybe try varying foods? Hope this helps, sounds easy does'nt it! good luck
AMAZONIAN
Hi and Good Luck with the "Betta's". I have bred them for years and if you read some of my earlier posts in this section you should have 90% of the information you need. I didn't say 100% 'cause I ain't God.
