HI Fishgirl Most cichlid males will fight to workout the Alpha male and introducing more females is not really going to solve the issue. As long as the fighting is not serious you don't need to worry too much. If there are 'small' injuries etc make sure that the water is clean and add some salt 1 cup/400l to prevent bacterial infection. Replace the sale if water changes are done. I have done the following with good success for small injuries: 50% initial water change and add salt - 1 cup/400l then do partial 30% WC every other day and replace the salt lost with water change. I continued this till the fish looked better - usually takes about 7-10 days I hope this helps
I have two of these for sale and purchased them from LFS last year. In good working order, no issues. Closed down the two big tanks and now they are for sale. Have all the fittings needed. $250ono
I have decided to reduce the number of tanks and need them gone asap. No leaks or anything and were up and running till last weekend. 8 tanks at 75 cm long x 35 cm high x 30 cm deep - some of the sides are painted blue but will easily come off. - $30 each 2 tanks at 90 cm long x 60 cm hign x 70 cm deep - some of the sides are painted blue but will easily come off 10mm glass - $200 each ono 1 tank at 150 cm long x 60 cm hign x 60 cm deep - 10mm glass - $250 ono Please pm me if interested.
I would say that they are males but its not a 'Rule' to follow. Venting is the best way to sex them when they are young. Females will breed when the males are not coloured but the eggs may not be fertile all the time.
Do you know what type of Stuartgranti Maleri they are?
It doesn't have the body shape of a jacobfreibergi but not sure what it could be. Possible some sort of Stuartgranti. Can rule out benga as well, because of the blue/white on the fin.
Need more colour to give you a good answer.
Nice looking tank mate.
Thought I will clear some of the confusion.
Firefish/Pink Dragon blood - They look pink in colour and have a blue/silver shine to them. Females are white.
Orange dragon blood some also refer to this as firefish - same as pink but orange. Females are orange.
Coral Red - More of a solid colour compared to the other when they are older. They look like albino Ruby red without the red eyes. Females are yellow.
Thanks.
Also note that metro is only active for 8-10 hours so you will have to dose in the morning and evening. I usually do the water change in the evening and then add the metro for the whole tank.
