Howdy ,Thankyou for all the kind words. The tank must dread my return from a dive trip cos it knows its in for a shake up  Leaving well alone for now Hi Fay,i use zeovit,so the mulm from the reactor feeds the corals.(The red brain senses this and often opens up to feed). Not home often enough to stick to strict dosing regime tho.cheers Westy. The back wall is just tinted dark glass, works well.

Diving the barrier reef caused this! Brick wall,nov2004. Less brick wall,nov2005. present day, room for a few more coral, soon there wont be any rock left!
  14. Must remember the camera next time i need salt, thanks for that!
  15. Gidday all,Dave at Hollywood fish farm has finished aquascaping his new showtank, ready to put the front glass on,700cm deep x 5' long.Anyone wanting aquascaping ideas, check it out, looks very cool. .No wall, islands, coves, grottos, bridges, overflow hidden by rock.as will be the streams, gonna emulate this on the next tank, especially building up your rock formation prior glueing on the front glass.Dave has used a coral sand/cement mix to fix the coral rocks.Off to the barrier reef to see how nature does it,cheers Westy
  16. Lighting is an Arcadia111 series pendant,2 BLV 14000 K halides(very pleased with colour and growth under these)one blue/one white flouro. Thanks James, but there are far better tanks out there .Really enjoy watching the development of those with a bit more water volume, seems more forgiving and liking the trend towards more open looking tanks. The pics are all through the glass bar the pink poc taken from above thru clear ended acrylic canister.
  17. Gidday James,No change at all in my tank,no room left! :-? Good growth tho . With the change to a pic size limit, not necessarily a bad thing(dialup),i find most full tank shots look a bit washed out , with a few blobs of colour in them, making even reef's tank look so so in a small photo, hence the attempt to get in close and show some colour.cheers ww p.s Bring back the edit function!!
  18. Ta!,Camera is a Canon Powershot Pro 1,looks like an SLR but not quite, comes with 28~200mm lens,.Bracketed a few shots with different white balance and exposure for best effect.Hey,James, will give it a go next week..
  19. Fun with the macro function:
  20. Just saw this post, here's another greedy thieving twentieth of a decent shrimp cocktail I like them really!! 2 years + and about 4.5" body length and feelers 5.5"

    New Tank!

Very nice setup, wasp. some really nice corals too by the look.
  22. Here's my new showtank. Really pleased with progress so far! The tank is nice and stable now so have recently started dosing a selection of heavy metals collected from natural streams in the waitaks, these seem to bring out the vibrant algae colours! Used a set of rusty pliers to raise the live rock, this has enabled enough flow to sway the dead snail shells. Maintenance is minimal as when the algae sheets are heavy enough they fall off the glass. Yep,this reefkeeping's a doddle!!
  23. Had some spare acrylic tube,so turned it into a watertight scope that enables SLR type cameras to take tank photos from the top of the water.Requires a willing wife or assistant to hold it while you faf around trying to focus. The stylo was taken using this scope.Anyone wanting to try using it feel free,it's presently at steve's house.
  24. New powder blue tang doing well, nicknamed "Cyanide".The yellow chased him around, but a week along and everyone's settled.
  25. Great looking layout! fantastic acro colours
