I recently brought a Fluval 304 on Trade-Me . All seems to be fine, motor running etc, but for some reason won't pump. Before trying, I replaced the motor seal, hoses etc to stop any minor problems...so i thought. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this matter. :-?

Should I be worried about them, or will they just die off by themselves ?

Hi folks, White worms / almost slug like on the inside of my Oscar tank. Never seen anything like them before. I've never had snails in the tank, and have done regular tank cleans, part water changes, and treatment if required. The tank is only 60cm, but only has 2 small oscars in it. 1 albino & 1 marble. We have noticed that the marble has gone of it's food over the last few days which is really odd in regards too hows it normally feeds. Done anyone have any ideas. I could take a photo, but they are quite small so you may not see them.

I have a feeling I read somewhere a way of testing sand to confirm that it's freahwater, and not salt. Can anyone throw some light on this for me.

After reading all these comments, do tanks / fish actually benefit from the use of carbon in filters?? It seems strange that a lot of top line cannister filters ie Fluval / Enheim package it with there new filters if it plays no major part.

I treated them with melafix as advised in an earlier posting, but things seem to be going wrong on the smallest one. the fins appeared to go a black / grey colour a few days after treatment, now the side fins appear to have feathered away. Have I done something wrong, or is it just the course of treatment taking & doing it's thing. (ps will try and get a pic posted)

My young Oscars have developed and what I treated as Whitespot, but now for some reason it appears their fins are feathering away. Could this be fin rot? If so what can I get, or do to treat them?

How concerned should I be about the thought of having Angels & Disus together? You read yes, thats fine, and then you read that Angels carry bugs that can be easily passed on. I welcome your thoughts & comments. :-?

I've read that having to much airation, ie a mixture of additional filters & under gravel can effect the health of the fish. Is that correct, or is it a mixture of this?

Oops forgot to mention..Albino .. :roll: In total over a period of about 2 hours, a series of cluster have been layed on the glass, very clear & easy to count, with a total of about 200. Like i mentioned in the original posting, I'm unsure if they will be already fertilised or not as comments in books seem to vary, and state that no real observation has been made. Cheers

After reading your last posting scalare...Petworld I think it is, Ferry Rd had some babies there a wee while ago (bout a month ago). About 50-60mm dia..for $20:00 each.
