  1. I wouldn't worry, I wish my male would go missing say for about 11 days  But no luck so far, he seems to like to be out and about but is chasing the female abit lately
  2. Looking at the web site pics, I'd say your right its a queen... I remember someone once saying when taking photo's one should start with clean glass....LOL.... Sorry couldn't help myself Colin
  3. So far I have a price under $200each for 3 units (JBL ProTemp 250) ex the states, and they are 220-240v setups. Im waiting to hear back from other sources in europe for there prices. Colin
  4. Thanks, I think  Who told you? I've found them for about half that price importing my own, just want to price up a DIY unit first Colin
  5. My father inlaw is a electrical engineer, but I'd prefer to ask him as a last option and I would prefer in the gravel coils. Cheers Colin
  6. Hi has anyone got plans/diagrams on diy U/G cable heaters? Or know wether its cost effective to make or buy. Currently pricing them up from germany and england. Thanks Colin
  7. The obvious way would be the one that lays the eggs..... Thats the answer I always get when I ask the same question. Colin
  8. If im right in my thinking the jebo r338 is a tank with a built in filter on top? Then I would have the filter wool on top of ceramic tiles/noodles, I take it there is a spray bar above the filter wool, If its anything like my aqua one ar 620. I try and keep the tiles/noodles covered in water all the time. Colin
  9. Same thing happened to me when I brought 3 featherfins I turned out to be a network and is a lot smaller then the 2 featherfins which now are double the networks size
  10. Media was 2 layers of 50mm course nylon matt, 2 layers of 30mm filter wool and 3 bags of Johnson PRO ceramic noodles. I used enough noodles to for a 600lt tank. This filter is running at around 1100lt/hr flow on a 250lt tank.
  11. It works really well, but the media cost over $110 for it. So I could have brought a cheap canister filter for that.

    Jewel Fry

Now have moved them into 450lt tank with 5 green and 3 gold severums, however I have just noticed I only have 2 female guppies left and no males. Still lots of sword tails. I guess swordtails are faster then male guppies. And most of the jewels(still have all 12) are around the 6cm mark. Now need more guppies for main display tank
  13. I have the same problem with one of my male kribs, his mouth is locked open, water is testing all good and I have been doing water changes about 10% weekly. It was in a com tank but I moved male and female into there own tank(because of its anti social behaviour) I am thinking that It rammed another fish and has done some damage to its jaw, have been worried that it wasn't eating properly but tonight notice its back in full mating colours, but still with a open mouth. Colin
  14. I have heard of using scoria instead of bio's balls or noodles for a large sump filter, Was told the larger wholesalers use it in there multi tank sumps. Don't know if it works that well, but don't see why not.

    Baby Jaguars

Just saw my first pair(breeding) tonight. Very impresive indeed, lovely looking fish and another tank full of young(to almost over full). I have directed their owners to this sit. Hope to see them and all there tanks here soon.
  18. Sorry, should have put it in freshwater not general, don't use a lot of titanium at work if at all.
  19. Just a few pics of my work in progress, all 316 s/s. Holds about 22lts and will be powered by a 1100l/h pump. Using material from scrap bin at work, so all up cost to me aprt from time is a $9 seal from another canister filter and 4 s/s clips ($8.55each). As this is the prototype I don't know if it will work yet but time will tell. Still have to put the base on. Fine s/s wire mesh, may just have these between filter material.
  20. Has anyone ever seen there male krib with its mouth open, what seems to be all the time. Its guarding the female with eggs in a 2 foot tank with another pair of albino kribs. Is this something I should be worried about(cause I am) or not. Thanks Colin

    Jewel Fry

Fry are doing well still have them all, they are getting on with all other fish except 1 young male guppy (RIP) Getting rather large almost 3cm now. Still haven't set up there new home in the garage. Still need heater and filter for 300lt tank Cheers Colin
  22. Im now the proud father of about 20 B/N fry, have moved them into breeding trap still in breeding tank with there own air stone. Anything else I should be doing apart from making food available 24/7 for the fry?
  23. One of my rosy barbs has a very pink gill plate, dark guts and a split tail which appears to be going dark where it's split. It had a split tail when brought it (didn't notice) Tank checks out ok (i.e 28C, pH 7,GH 6, NH 0, NO 0) She's in with 7 other girls 1 male rosy barbs, 4 kuili loachs, 3 clown loachs and 5 b/n plecos. Would like to leave her in the tank as even my quarintine/breeding tank is full. Whats wrong with her and how do I treat it. Cheers
  24. I would like a pair if possible and do you still have whiptails? any chance of getting some of them off you at some stage. Thanks
