  1. get her out in the sunlight, good diet and a decent backyard to roam around in.A new girlfriend for your old boy LA?
  2. just went outside and turned over a couple of old stumps, found one and also a female with a heap of babies in her nest. They don`t like being poked with twigs!! there`s one here in some damp earth etc in an old flowerpot. Now,do you know anyone coming down to the bay at all?I will be up your way next thursday afternoon?
  3. you really want one Hans? I can probably find one for you.
  4. just a yellow phase elegans??? no big deal really.I know more than one person breeding them(with appropriate permits of course!!)
  5. the `nocturnals` have been knowen to bask in natural sunlight.
  6. its not something you can put a figure on.it all depends what sort of care and diet they have been subjected to.Some may never breed or die trying to pass eggs through a deformed carapace. Most that I have heard and seen do not lay before 10 or longer(not alot but a few)
  7. won`t breed till 10 or even twelve.
  8. no doubt a few of you have seen it?some may even be looking at buying it?I trust this is not in breach of any rules but just want to give my opinion of this animal. What a sad pathetic looking specimen.I know its only photos which can be not as they are in real life but I have noted the following, eyes are sunken and dull, body is too big for the shell, beak is overgrowen, shell is the wrong shape for an animal of that sex, species and age.It looks like it can hardly hold its head and legs up(could be due to lack of exercise and poor diet(lettuce,as in photo=zilch food value. To see an animal kept like this is quite sad, mainly because the owner thinks they are doing evrything so well??I hope someone buys it quick?not for me.
  9. just wondering, where do the frogs access this information?
  10. I also separate the age groups and have never had a problem with canabilism, just the odd pair of soft wings when they moult if you have stacks in there.have had mixed groups as well but was easier to have them all the one size.
  11. not smart at all.just trying to give you some help.Cabbage and bok choy do not sound the best to give them.I feed ordinary long grass from a reliable place that does not have any chance of being sprayed.even small traces of insecticide may not kill your locusts but will render them sterile!I live in an orchard area so have to be real choosy.lucky there is an organic farm nearby and I can get daily supplies as I need them.Kikyiua grass you get round akld is good and easy to find.Grab a handful wrap a rubber band around and put in a glass of water making sure it is a tight fit so they can`t get into the water and drown. They will mow it down flush with the glass top then replace with a fresh one.You can gather a few bunches and store in a plastic bag in the fridge for few days.also give them a small dish of bran flakes,no need for water as they get it from the grass.I know someone who uses cotton wool soaked pads but I have never bothered.
  12. niether is biosuppliers?what were you feeding your locusts besides each other?
  13. he said cheap?there is someone doing them from dunedin now I think, not sure if it was on here or the other place?check back through the older posts in private trade & exchange?might be easier to get them closer to home?
  14. snake necks are quite adept at catching fish, using their long neck to straighten out and grab the fish. They are better at catching fish than red ears but hunting skill/interest varies alot between individual turtles (some are just not into it)depending how well fed they are could determine how many fish survive and for how long?
  15. not really,I was glad of one less to feed,Had to farm them out to raise all of them but was quite happy with end result and never lost one tail tip or toe nail.lets see how you get on?.......if you manage to hatch one?
  16. 67 babies from 68 eggs last time I think?/also do not deal in stolen lizards,
  17. yeah mate, considering you have forgotten more about keeping/breeding(sucessfully)waterdragons than previous poster???whoops sorry.thats right he doesn`t even have one???how sad is that??
  18. dead right alan, and if they don`t sell?they still keep eating,.....at an increased rate!!!
  19. thats how much you know.if the heat can`t get out what happens?combined with a heat soak such as bottles of water to hold warmth a 40 watt bulb is quite adequate. You want gentle heat not huge swings in temp.try yours in the microwave?
  20. but a challenge to do something someone else could not??
  21. understanding is different than doing.People that get into a `hobby` with the aim of making money are not really hobbyists?
