  1. I found this (extremely long) care sheet online, and being no expert myself, I am interested to get your take on it (although I am not suggesting you read it all unless you have some time up your sleeve). About 1/3 of the way down it talks about substrates and recommends strongly against newspaper, along with some photo's of blue tongues with black feet. I would love to use newspaper, when I was a kid we used newspaper in the bottom of our mouse tank and it was so absorbent, do blue tongues need absorbent substrate? Have you used newspaper before successfully?
  2. I read that aromatic wood like pine is not good because the scent is bad for them, I am interested to know if anyone has kept them on pine successfully long term?
  3. Also, I should have asked, are there brands of Aspen that should or should not be used? Thanks
  4. Hi Everyone, Thanks heaps for the help I have received already on this forum. I am trying to get ready for the Blue Tongue I am about to get at the end of the month and I have a few questions I was hoping people wouldn't mind answering. I was hoping that people who keep Blue Tongues in a tank would please upload photo's of their tank layouts for me, I am trying to get an idea of how people set up their tanks. also I am wondering - do Blue Tongues need an absorbent substrate? - who uses/doesn't use artificial grass in their tank and why do you/don't you use it? - where is the most cost effective place to buy aspen.
  5. Thanks for the replies. Thanks Livingart - I have read that link already. I have read a lot of care sheets etc, I have to say that I found that to be one of the best - easy to understand and containing lots of info without being too wordy.
  6. Hi Everyone, I'm new on the forum and also soon to be a first time blue tongue lizard owner. I have been told that a suitable substrate for keeping blue tongues is paper kitty litter (it was emphasised to me that it must be the paper one). I have never seen it listed anywhere as a possible substrate, what does everyone think? Thanks Addie
