  1. just wanting to buy some egg crate if anyone knows where i can get some cheap in auckland
  2. dont think im going to add an ato. but thanks for the offer. and if you do set up a diy ato and auto waterchange id be really interested in how it all goes so keep me posted. :bggrn: thanks
  3. :cophot: awsome. tanks looking great!
  4. yea an ato would be a bit overkill but they are always a good way to go. but i find that because i have to top it up every day or two i am being more consistant with maintaining the system. and im doing once or twice a week waterchanges of only 1L which is pretty sweet. and im not sure if the iq skimmer fits but i can measure it and let you know.
  5. yea im really happy with it, its bright and has really good colour. and is running really well. but only time will tell. yea its pritty bad. was doing daily ro top ups. made a diy lid for now. n gone to every two days ro top up. will get the lid for the iq3 as sn as i can. will help alot.
  6. its really blue. the pink is just on the rock. and its more of a purple but photos dont realy show the colours
  7. thanks. the light is a bit overkill but the more the better i gues
  8. just got myself one of these today from aquaworld. it is uber bright should be able to grow sps which im stoked about. will get picks up asap. :happy1:
  9. i always do. get a big bucket and a power head and go to the nearest beach if you can so you dont have to waste precious salt, put it in the bucket of salt water and blow the rock with the power head. will get rid of excess dust and stuff. you only need to do this once or twice. depending how much stuff comes out. its not a big deal but thats what i like to do.
  10. :iag: . i have used that same stuff in my old 130l and my old 54l. i prefer it over aragonite and looks much whiter under water and under the lights.

    AWSOME
  12. thanks for all the posts there really helpful. I may try one of these par38 bulbs and holder form aquaworld and just see how they go. I will also probably run the standard light as it is all white and dimmable so will be able to adjust to what I like. also with most nano led units out there today in the shops eg dymax, leo ect, lack in the blue spectrum so the par38 is looking pretty good to me at the moment. I may also add a diy blue red and green mix led where I can adjust the colours to get more of a range on the spectrum. im just growing softies. zoas, mushrooms, star pollyps ect
  13. thanks. I may end up going diy. only want to spend around 100. and I have built lights before but never led. looks pretty simple from what I have watched on youtube
  14. sorry miss read I think. the photo is just an example?
  15. thanks that looks great. where abouts did you get the bulb if you don't mind me asking. and realy like how it looks with the sand. wasn't sure what it would look like in such a small tank. I have a BB atm but might add some live sand if I can get my hands on a small amount.
  16. hi all. just started my new pico reef tank this week. added its first coral yesterday :happy1: . I am running the standard lighting on it with the addition on 8 blue leds. does anyone run one of these as a reef and know what type of lighting I can get for it? or does anyone have an idea of what type of lighting I could use on it? will post some photos when I get my hands on a camera :bggrn: thanks

  18. Ok cool thanks. Was hoping I could use the 2ft for breeding.
  19. Yea I might do the same. And thanks for that. They get a variety of food. And every second day they get a water change. Probably do the same on a breeder. I have two tanks to choose from. A 3ft by 40h by 30w. And a 2ft by 30w by 35 high. Which would be a better tank to put the pair in?
