Good points, that was on my mind when I was thinking about buying the silica (fish making a mess, silica clouds) :slfg: So if this doesnt workout ive been interested in malawi for a while. Should be alright tho I have a fine cloth over my filter which I clean often to stop fry from swimming up it and that will stop any silica from going into the filter, hopefully

Yo a few weeks back I brought white silica sand for my jaguar tank And ive been it putting off for a while because my jags have been Spawning. I dont wanna take the fish out of the tank to do the Switch over so I was thinking ill just take say 50% water out and Fill 1 half with the silica and then over time gradually even it out. Has anyone done this before? Im just looking for some tips maybe There is a easier way, and will I have to rinse the silica sand out before putting It in the tank or no? Cheers Adam

i would love to get a tank that big but i just cant where i am at the moment all i can do for them at the moment is get rid of the other fish

haha im hoping the pair can parent them well enough the first spawning i removed the eggs and put them in another tank only about 20 became wrigglers and now i have 6 left :facepalm: so this time i thought id leave them with the parents and ive now got maybe 50 wrigglers :happy1:

the male is about 35cm and female is about 20cm since i created this topic they have had spawned twice

well unfortunately i cant set up another tank and ive been thinking about selling my oscar, i dont want to get rid of the black shark :slfg: the convicts can go. ill crank up the temp and keep up the regular water changes hopefully get some luck

Hi all, I have a tank (250litres) with a black shark, red tiger oscar, bristle nose catfish, 2 convicts and from what I was told a breeding pair of jaguar cichlids. Ive had them 2 to 3 months and I havnt seen any eggs yet. They hang out as though they are a breeding pair so im guessing I need to create a better enviroment for them to breed in maybe? Has anyone got any tips etc so help? Cheers Adam
