    Blue Acara

Just interested to know if anyone has bought any of the juvenile blue acara on Trademe lately? Quite keen myself but seems shipping is not on the cards.
  2. Cool, thanks for the info. I have left a message on TM so see what he has to say. I also noticed he now has a FB page which has a list of his fish which includes four killie species, so hopefully he has more than listed. Maybe as you say they are the only ones at saleable size.
  3. Cheers for that, will get in touch with him. Did you get your clowns from Rodney? Would be good to know what killies are around at the moment. Quite keen to get a couple of species breeding.
  4. Just wanting to know if anyone has any of these killies available. Wanting decent numbers if possible for breeding. Any help appreciated. Epiplatys annulatus. Aphyosemion striatum. Aphyosemion bivittatum. Aphyosemion bitaeniatum. Fundulopanchax amieti.
  5. Happy to go halves and get them established! The more apistos the merrier ho ho ho. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a pair of the macs as well for some new blood.
  6. So are you going to get a pair of the alenque?
  7. I'd be keen on any other Betta species besides splendens. I see there are three on the list. Betta coccina Betta imbellis Betta pugnax and maybe a couple of Apistogramma species Apistogramma elizabethae Apistogramma borellii.... the real one not the "Steel Blue" that comes in under that name. And maybe.. Sphaerichthys vaillanti. Samurai gourami. Will be interesting to see if anyone's choices make it in!!
  8. Blue Acara are cool. Kind of look like a Green Terror.
  9. Thats the one. Was really amazed to find him in the tank, such a decent size too. When I got them I did a bit of research on the net and didn't find much about them as regards to breeding. Thought my chances would be pretty slim in a tank with a pair, and 7 juvenile Pelvichromis taeniatus, probably why I only have 1 though!
  10. Any guesses? Got a few of these a while ago then found this lone guy snaking around a few weeks ago!
  11. Hey Sophia I recently added to my group of mosquito rasbora, and noticed a variation in a couple that resembles the photo of your one. I'm guessing there must be some batch contamination as these ones seem to resemble Boraras merah, not Boraras brigittae. Nice fish still! I seem to have 2 out of about 19.
  12. ....Tank is empty at the moment, if when filled with water it closes the gap will that mean that the weight is evenly distributed or that more load is still taken where the gap wasn't?
  13. Could probably get a picture tonight. It's a pretty minimal gap maybe 2mm tops so don't know if it will show up in a photo. And because it's on a stand up against a wall I can't tell if the back is doing the same thing, so was hoping for a cover all bases solution. The tanks not massive around 100 litres, but I don't want to risk a crack really!!
  14. Just wondering if anyone has some pointers? Got a couple of new tanks, all level on the stand but the poly has some play between the stand and tank at the front in the middle. Will the weight of the water close the gap? Or is that a crackable situation? Have thought maybe to use a gap filler or silicone to glue to the bottom of the poly so when the tank sits on it the weight of the tank will compress the filler enough to have the tank sitting evenly on the poly/stand. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  15. Haha, lucky you acara having so many bettas to chose from! Thanks SamH for the links, good to see they have been around in the past, maybe they will be back soon?? I wonder how many people would be interested in any different species types, as obviously this would impact on the chances of them being imported!
  16. Just wondering if anyone has or knows of other betta species available in NZ. Have seen a couple of types on the allowed list. Would be great to be able to get hold of some.
  17. Cool tank! What happened to your sparkling gourami? Am quite keen on some but havent seen any around for ages.
