thanks am now going with buying ammonia and good bacteria and regularily testing with nitrate, nitrite and ammonia test kits till 0 nitrite and Ammonia and high Nitrate

is a week long enough to cycle a tank or should it be longer?
I'll use the fish food and the nitrate test.

will I need an under gravel heating cable for plants? or will Kuhlis get burnt if they burrow into it?

I have heard that my first fish I will be adding, Kuhli loaches ,are quite sensitive to having good water conditions and am wondering if there is a way i can do a fishless cycle?

-rock cave (made from river rocks and silicone sealant)
- glass bottle ( not sure what it contained but it was from a long time ago!, washed and safe)
and of course the plants!

they were for ornimental purposes but I wont use the copper ones, the silver shouldnt leech anything

would copper ones still be fine if coated in varnish?

they look real neat so would coating them with something ,say varnish, stop the copper irons from leeching

if they get rid of snails thats good but I don't want them to harm the fish

are the liquid fertilizers safe for fish?
The root balls sound like the best idea but should i go for the 7 balls or the 7+13 balls?
