as above was wondering if could use river sand in my tank when i set it up but was thinking it may have little beasties from the river living in it that could do something to the tank. is it ok to use or should i just buy some gravel from the pet shop. cheers matt

hey there squirt, i actually have about thirty or so more recently morphed ones that im growing at the mo , i have also been thinking about building an enclosed pond, sort of like a large terrarium, out of plywood. i could just throw them in that if i build it and see waht happens?

first of all i have two whistlers aged about 1 years old. i know that at least one of them is male because i have seen just after and heard him call. they are quite big, about 3.5 cms and well fed. I know they are still probably too young to breed but i was wanting to get some info so i know the basics when they are. also they might be related because the lady i bought them of as tadpoles has a small pond and just ends up with hundreds of tadpoles in there every year. so i am also aware of that. so yeah was just wondering if they are old enough and how to encourage them to breed if anyone has some tips. any help would be appreciated. thanks matt

heater bout 30cm but tank is rectangle so makes it easier to fit it

also what size heater would i be looking at, i already have one that was given to me but it is quite big and not sure on how many watts it is

Hi,i have recently bought a blueplanet 20L aquarium from wellington. I havent kept tropicals before but have kept goldfish on and off for about 6 years. anyway i was hoping someone could give me a few tips on setting up the tank and maintenance etc. i would also like some recommendations on what fish and how many fish i can keep in here. some fish i had in mind were a siamese fighter, honey gourami, bristlenose, black widow tetras and rainbows. i dont know wether these will be compatible or suitable for my tank so any help would be appreciated. thanks matt

was wondering if anyone had any experience breeding these guys, i know they need a tall enclosure for their courtship dance and thats about it, have a few ideas on setups but need some proper advice. cheers matt

What is the best thing and way to be feeding my golden bell frog. I think its a girl and have had it for a bout two maybe two and a half years. I feed about every three days. it only ever eats about 20% of what i give it and it is never active during the day like all the others i have seen on here it is also a lot smaller than some of the other frogs that i have seen pics of. i feed it blowies and slaters and what ever other flying insects i can scoop up in the net. any help would be appreciated
