Are there any clownfish breeders on this forum?
-
Is there anyone in NZ that breeds marine fish? In particular clownfish and demsels
Has anyone had the odd success in breeding in captivity?

Mine were, iirc, going 35 in a 25 on Ft. Richardson(No signs anywhere I could see so I was going the speed traffic goes)
100 in an 80, on a section of motorway at 10pm that suddenly drops to 80. Going to work after an aquarium club meeting.
And 56 in a 50 school zone so double fines. Cause...You know those kids are all over the place at 5am.
Ive had about $2500 in fines for numerous things, driving unaccompanied, driving unaccompanied, driving unaccompanied, Oh and ummmm driving unaccompanied and ill throw in a few non regoed and warrent tickets in there too AND a car accident(that bill will haunt me for the rest of my life). I have my restricted now..... lol
Im not a bad driver as the police told me when they escorted me home i was just stupid lol

different things are cool at different ages haha. it was awesome in those days having a setup like that as a bunch of us would cruise to the beach, open the hatch and we had tunes for a party.
i like teenagers, they remind me of myself when i was young and stupid :slfg:
Im young(21)..... and sometimes stupid lol i want speakers in my boot but done want just cheap and nasty DIY jobs that most young people do(not me ofcourse). i do thins properly but even speakers are REALLY expensive if you want good ones. but its not really a priority with 2 toddlers and a wife to use all my money on lol
oh but there is many other problems with the car that needs fixing too!
-
Pretty sure I did post the latest set of pics when they were taken almost a year ago...
There is something seriously wrong with the number plate, i dont think the police or any camera could read that :happy1:

you should chuck up some pic's

my radiator blew about 4 months ago... ahhh the joys of duct tape and epoxy and 4ltr water containers..... hrmmm... warrant in 2 weeks.....
:slfg: sometimes i wish i wont lotto then i could get something that just worked! lol
-
Mis & Niss, Libero is crap...I had that year ago it cost me more than a new one, from water pump to cam belt..A-Z trouble is what i can say.. gooooo TOYOTA :slfg:
my radiator blew tonight i believe
-
hrmmm.... that actually sounds more expensive unless your talking about new parts....
It is not too bad. ive been quoted $350 to get it fixed or about $600 for a replacement gearbox so its not too bad and i dont need to do anything besides hand them money lol
-
Sounds cheaper to fix!
My daughter fears she has blown a head gasket &c:ry
As i found out with my old nissan when the head had problems, it was going to cost about $900 to fix or just drop a replacement engine in for $160 all up(but thats because i could do it myself)
-
Turns out I don't need a new gearbox but only a new overdrive clutch
-
yes, but then again, my dad taught me "if you can't fix it, you shouldn't own it"
also taught me that to "fix" meant knowing what you are doing.
I can bodge just about anything, but I can also fix something properly. I think that "you need a qualification" to be able to do something is a bit sad considering half the people with qualifications couldn't do anything without a manual anyways
Ive always grown up in a family with not a lot of money so I learnt to fix things.

These are two things i never use. Well, a torque wrench only when im doing engine work. Engine hoist is handy, but a couple of jacks and some keen friends can also do the trick
Seeing as we are off topic, here is why my car is such a dream to work on:
2 nuts and the axles are out,
2 electrical plugs
2 radiator hoses
2 fuel hoses
3 bolt holding the engine in
2 bolts for the exhaust
and undo the shiter
Done, engine is out. [/brag]
I LOVE the blue! lol I wish i had keen friends lol my friend i call engine hoist is always willing to help :happy1:
-
have you done a trans replacement before?
Indeed, infact ive done 2 before. if youve got the right tools, study the car manual, take lots of pictures of where things went its easyish! lol
Just make sure you have the tools to do the job, like a torque wrench and loctiteOr a socket set with a huge long pole :slfg: well to get bolts undone anyway
I will prob have to hire a engine hoist tho.
-
owning a mitzi taught me heaps about fixing a car.
last I checked you could get a new transmission from pickapart for around
$150
Wow!! Didnt realize they even existed! i can get a replacement for $60!!! and it is self service...... guess who is going to have some fun this long weekend :happy1:

next car= manual

It turns out that when overdrive is off it works fine..... and i realized that the "check engine" light is on so tomorrow before work i will head to the auto electrician and get them to plug their computer in to see what the problem is.
I want my old car back which was a 1987 nissan sentra, because, welllll... it just worked and had no sign of a computer and was so much easier to fix!
-
Sounds like the transmission is screwed mate, have you checked the trans fluid?
thats what i was afraid of
and thats a good question. i will have a look tomorrow.

Hi everyone!
its been a while since i've been on but maybe someone on here could help me?
I bought a 1992 mitsi Libero/lancer a couple of months ago..... finally got my license back last week after 6 months and took it for a spin last night when I thought I had finished fixing it.
Now the problem is..... Ill take off and it gets up to 3rd gear then completely slip out of gear(its an automatic). I have to pull over to put it back to park then back to drive but keeps slipping out, or i can change it to 1st or 2nd gear to keep going. I am not use to working on cars with all these computer things in them. my old Nissan was just an engine and none of this other stuff!
so if anyone could help me diagnose the problem that would be awesome!

Nothing to do with Ecan. Up to the Local Authorities and the Department of Health.
there we go. learn new things every day

There is no chlorine in Christchurch at the moment (may be some localised with earthquake repairs--same with kaiapoi). Chlorine is easier to get rid of than calcium.
thats helpful thanks.
I thought ECAN put it in most of the water systems.
back up power systems

I've been looking for some ideas on back up power. We've had 5 powercuts in the last week alone. Some last upto a few hours at a time. Our tank is only cycling but cools down quickly(we not the warmest house in canterbury) so I need somega backup for the longer cuts.
Some options I've considered
Petrol genset
Solar
Deepcycle battery ready charged for powercuts.
Any ideas?
