Is there really only two of us breeding these lizards?. I have heard that the coastals are only available in New Zealand and Australia (legally).
One I got from you has successfully bred this year.
That is good to hear ... still have my fingers cross with the ones here ..
They laid last year but were no good... hopefully this year will be better...

Please message me
Am looking for a mate for my male
 8)
May I ask were are you ? what town ?

Good luck with getting a shingleback and good luck with keeping it legally since they are not on the list of approved reptiles not needing a permit.
Sorry but they are in private people collections but yes they are very hard to get as there are so few here.
I have not seen or heard of any for sale for a few years .

FYI
List of herpetofauna and category of permit required to hold in captivity in New Zealand. In accordance with the New Zealand Department of Conservation.
Very good list but there are some missing of the last page that I know are here in NZ but the Argentine Black and White Tegu is not one of them .....

Hi
I use astro turf ...
I like the grey colour best and then put place from them to hide ...
Very easy to keep clean ....
The ones out side have sand in there encloses ( 2m by 2m by 2m ) and well planted with grass and place to hide .

naughty torty.
Good stuff on changing the paper. Better to be safe than have them reading the newspaper and getting confused lol
Id just use paper towels - extra absorbant - or fake turf. cut two bits and hose one off weekly and change over. Never kept tortoises here though.
We tried with the fake turf with last years baby and he tried to eat it . So that is why we are not using this year with these babies .
And yes they are tortoises .. land only

You can buy the end of rolls of newspaper before it is printed (as used on fish and chips). I don't think the ink is toxic, it was when printing was done with lead type.
That is exactly what we have just done this morning ... we had a roll here and is looking much better .. thanks
-
Nice one. I use to use newspaper in packaging and the black on my hands was unreal from not much contact. Probably non-toxic in this day and age but does make you wonder ...
Yes we have been thing about that so will be change it .. do no know what to yet ??

So far up to 10 and still more to hatch ...
And here is their new home ... for a few mouth away

Here is one of this year babies ??
