    Dropsy??

okay, honey dwarf gourami, thought it had popeye last week, seemed to resolve itself before I medicated... now looking very like a wee pine cone I gather from the reading I've done there is no 'cure'? Is euthanasia the kindest option? Hate to think of it suffering...
  2. tank's 150 or so ltrs, 25% changes?? Tank water looks good, all tests well within normal range. Thanks for the advice

    Pop eye?

in my dwarf honey gourami? Noticed tonight that fishie is staying up in the top corner of the tank, other fish seem happy enough to leave it alone up there.....but has a 'blister' like appearance behind/over the eye. I guess that it's popeye, and i gather that Furan is the way to go...? Any advice on what size tank to isolate in for treatment as i hear furan is quite costly? Shouldthe whole tank be treated? as it is a bacteria? or does it only affect a fish that has had some kind of trauma? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to do the best for fishie
  4. no pics yet, will try to get some in the weekend, maybe try to get the bubby guppies too, lol.
  5. you are sooo right, I have found out the difference since posting, it is indeed a Rainbow shark, not a Red tail shark, apologies. Still cruises past looking out at us, kids named him Bruce.... Nemo fans here I'm afraid, lol.
  6. all for the welcomes!!! Have a few changes, the guppies have decided to multipy, as they do lol, except the fry got sucked into the filter!!!!Man what a rush job turning everything off to try to rescue them, got 6, RIP any I missed. Luckily I had a wee tank spare I could put them in, so now got 4 tanks running and Meridian are loving my power account!
  7. I've been lurking on here for a while now... I have a 165 ltr comm tank with a mix of gourami, hatchets, a fighter, algae eaters, red tail rainbow shark and a whiptail catfish, a 50ltr with angels and a 38 ltr with six guppies, two phantom tetras and threee old neons. It's been a real help for me to read all the posts here, especially the disease ones - I've been able to save many fish by knowing what to do quickly instead of having to wait it out, so thanks all who post great detail and pictures!!!
