Can you still get Tangy Fruits?
Here's old for you - who remembers having to stand up for God Save the Queen before the film started? (and we called them films then, not movies)
We couldn't afford to buy lollies on the rare occasions we got to go to the pictures
yeah and I remember when we became teenagers and we rebelled by remaining seated to the disgust of our elders and even sometimes got told by some old grump to "stand up you little punk".

I used to have a pair and when they bred the female would eat some of the babies then stop, almost as if she was thinning them out

When i was a little kid my Dad kept fish and was a member of the Masterton Aquarium Socirety, apologies if that is not the correct name. They had a meeting room and public display in what was previously and now is again the tearooms in Queen Elizabeth Park. I remember going there to help with tank maintenance when it was Dads turn.
Also went on a few tank crawls and visits to other members places. I was always fascinated with their fish tanks and pond set ups.
When my partner bought a tank and some goldfish from Imsweet on here about 3 years ago
my interest was re-sparked and the goldfish were soon moved on. Now many $$ later.....well you know how it goes

It is the lake in Queen Elizabeth Park, the one that you can drive around and picnic beside. I suppose people still do that.
They have drained it every year for ever. I am in my .... well I'm not that young anymore and I can remember it when I was a kid growing up in Masterton.
I used to feel sorry for the eels squirming around in the mud as the water drained away. In fact I remember taking some and releasing them into the adjacent river. We even tried cooking them on one of our river fires ( pre bbq days) but being mud eels yuk.
If you got there before other boys you could usually pull a bike out of the mud, always good for parts.

I hope you have a long siphon so you can keep your hands out of the water, those guys can pack a punch

you'll drive for 2 hours to buy fish you know you probably shouldn't

when I shifted house, I told a helper that I need to make room in the shed for my couch to sit and watch my fish. He pulled up a single chair, plonked it in front of the tanks and said "why don't you use this, it's not like anyone is going to be sitting with you".
He just didn't get it

I have 2 digital aquaone thermometers. Today I had them both in each of my tanks together. On a 6ft tank and a 5ft tank they were within a degree of each other. Strangely (to me anyway) on a 3ft tank the same 2 thermometers showed a massive 6 degree difference.
I repeated the whole process giving them an hour in each tank...same result. There is quite alot of water movement in the 3 ft tank but that doesn't explain why one thermometer was lower than the other.
Its really not a problem but weird

Simon is preparing the itinerary and I'm sure he will be announcing it real soon. As far as I know it is my place first at 11 am, but that's all I know
