Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I did water changes on 3 tanks. nothing different to usual. About an hour later I'm watching my fish die. Lost an entire colony of Demasoni, A tank full of young and juvenile tangs, all my daffodils which were starting to breed nicely and their babies.
The big africans lay on the bottom for a while but then came right. Put that down to a big tank = large volume of water and lots of filtration.
I wonder if water services or whatever had just dosed or overdosed with chlorine and it was bad timing

I told her to wait while I start the computer, took about 15 minutes to make and drink a coffee then told her to P>>> OFF

little or no difference I'd say. It comes down to preference really. Do you want to run 2 filters? Only down side would be more power usage I suppose. With 2 filters you can filter water from both ends of the tank and adjust your water movement to suit.

I'm pretty sure a fighter is not compatible with gouramis

what i would like to know is what you beginner and expert fish keepers think and ANY ideas you might have for it?
i was thinking some ideas like complete profiles could be made up for fish if you have some really special fish(or if you like me and have 12 neons you could make 12 profiles
 I think maybe you need to get out a bit more :dunno:

assuming you have adequate filtering in your tank, try some large water changes for a start. It could just be that the nitrites have got a bit on the high side. Don't know how heavily stocked your tank is or if you overfeed. If that doesn't fix it then you may have to look at parasites

you might find bits of carrot floating around your tank, it seems to be some fishes least favourite ingredient

I will check out that agar agar. I remember collecting that seaweed as a little kid and getting paid for it. Now I think about it I don't think I even knew what it was used for and probably didn't care so long as we got some pocket money.

This is nothing new and not my recipe but one I use to feed african cichlids predominantly but also occasionally to our community tank.
I basically alternate feeding between this and flake etc
The fish like it and it saves me $$$$$$$
FROZEN VEGE/SHRIMP FISH FOOD
1kg fresh or frozen veges, I find it easier to use frozen.
400 grams frozen cooked peeled shrimp
Gelatine
2 cloves of garlic
* Thaw the shrimp and blend with the garlic.
* Cook the veges until they are soft.
* Mix up 3 tablespoons of gelatine in about 1/4 cup of hot water and microwave it until it blends.
* Add everything into the blender and blend it.
* Put it into old fish bags, flatten it out and freeze it.
* To feed out to fish, simply snap off a piece and thaw it for a few minutes.

I used to ride a fair bit and I always looked out for my safety in traffic. Unlike many competitive cyclists who will ride side by side or well out from the shoulder and totally ignore cars on the road. That peeves motorists big time. Plenty have been hurt bad and worse but some just don't give a toss.

there is no must see store in Wanganui unfortunately
