  1. This big enough? Horizontal or vertical doesn't matter, so long as there is plenty of open swimming space and nothing sharp they can damage themselves on if they get spooked.
  2. That sucks Ryan, they're a nice looking fish!! Good luck ANB001, hope you can produce some fry.
  3. You better be leaving to fix the other forum......
  4. I feed my cichlids a mix of Hikari cichlid gold, tetra colour bits, wardley shrimp pellets, tetra flake, JBL novo rift, shrimp, bloodworms, and brineshrimp.
  5. Have a look on my photobucket, pagers 4-7 and 12-13, pics are too big to post here. I actually prefer the lighter grey (S&WW call it "sea green" I think) stuff to the dark grey/charcoal. http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k186/ ... /?start=60
  6. Cool, will have to call in and see it and the nandus some time when I'm up north.
  7. Hows he doing Al? Hard to get pics of eh!
  8. Even with 400kg of battery?! I find it hard to believe tbh, and even if it did how long do the batteries cost? And I'd rather spend $80 on gas and be able to go again in 2 minutes rather than $2.50 and not being able to use my car for half a day...
  9. so in other words its a major downgrade from an SR20det?
  10. Seen a few V8 MX5's around, would certainly be exciting! I couldn't own one though, they're a bit small for anyone over 5' tall... P44 whats the car? The headlight nearly looks like a Datsun.
  11. The question is where do you draw the line? Every time someone new to fish keeping joins a forum do you go over the same old stuff about cycling, stocking, and why you shouldn't pull the tank to bits every month and scrub everything, or do you tell them to do a search and read over old posts? There has to be a balance somewhere between enough new stuff to keep the old and knowledgeable people interested, and enough basic information to hook in the newbies. I usually don't even look at threads like this let alone provide useful answers, there is so much information out there yet people seem less and less willing to take it upon themselves to learn things.
  12. blue acaras are a bit small to be paired up at 6cm, or by "pair" do you just mean "two of"? A pair usually implies a male and female breeding pair. Now, to hopefully put an end to these "can fish A go with fish B?" posts.... In the old days before the internet we used to have to read books that described fish, their personalities and requirements, then make educated guesses at what would co-exist with what. You're never going to learn anything if every time you have a question you get the answer spoon-fed to you by people on internet forums. Try looking at sites like www.planetcatfish.com or http://www.cichlid-forum.com/ that have profiles of species, so you can learn about the requirements of the fish you have (or ideally do it before you buy so you know what you're getting in for), you'll probably be able to answer these questions yourself. Fish are not lego, its is never as simple as saying yes/no fish A will live with fish B. Tank size (and shape), decor, water, maintenance schedule etc all influence what can and can't be kept. A little bit of planning and research will go a long way and will almost certainly save you money when starting out.
  13. HOW BIG IS YOUR TANK???????????????????????????????????
  14. Or even just thick rigid plastic? I want something that is easy to drill holes in but is still fairly rigid.
  15. A few more: Built B-series motor and close ratio box, loads of aftermarket suspension parts all painted black to look stock, would surprise a heck of a lot of people... Something local: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ ... els001.jpg 4g63 (evo/vr4 motor) 220kw at the back wheels.... http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ ... cts002.jpg
  16. I think it would work fine provided they had enough space.
  17. heh. Another thing I love when it comes to cars is sleepers. Cars that are way faster than they look like they should be. Imagine having this thing keeping up with your viper...
  18. Depends on tank size, I've seen many large tanks with discus kept with angelfish, severums, geophagus, uaru, parrots (Hoplarchus, not those ugly mutant hybrid things), festivum etc.
  19. Yeah fair enough, the koenigsegg ccxr is one of the few modern super cars I'd buy if I won lotto. Certainly having some creature comforts (like a roof and a windscreen!) make all the difference in the car being a practical useable road car rather than a road-legal track car, its things like the electronic traction control and power distribution on the Enzo that remove the need to have some skill to handle it that I don't like. Those carbon fibre tin cans with highly engineered custom motors that use a couple of parts from a motorbike engine are actually quote affordable (compared to a supercar) IIRC the guy with the Westfield XTR was looking at a Radical but said it was a bit pricey at $125k with all the options he wanted.
  20. Yeah it was not that impressive, hardly surprising, the main feature of the veyron is being able to boast at the pub you have a car with 1000hp that does 400kmh, ideal for impressing "no replacement for displacement" types who don't know much about cars or motorsport. SR8 owner "my car only makes 380hp but it has a six-speed sequential gearbox and a torque-biasing limited-slip dif, and it only weighs 650kg", veyron owner "my car has 8 turbos and a thousand horsepower and a seat for my trophy wife" drunk leghumpers at the pub "gah yeah veyroon thousand horsepower, 400kmh, must be the fastest car in the word, nothing could beat that". P44 have a read about the Powertech motors if you have can be bothered, yeah they only displace 2.8L and use the heads of a motorbike engine, but with an over-square bore:stroke ratio and 13.5:1 compression the 2.8L RPB makes 450hp!! A pretty impressive piece of engineering regardless. http://www.powertecengineering.com/pdf_ ... engine.pdf And there is no arguing that the sound they make is bordering on sexual; The thing I like about cars like the SR8 (and hate about most supercars post the F40) is that they are purely built for driving fast, which is really the what its all about IMO. No stereo, no creature comforts, no computers controlling how much torque goes to each wheel, you actually need some skill (and balls!) to drive them fast. There's a guy who has brought his Westfield XTR to a couple of the honda club track days at Taupo, and it just looks like so much fun to drive, like a go-kart on steroids. And here's another insane clip of a hill climb in one of those little "engine with legs" cars (Norma M20, using a motor from an M3 BMW); Madness!!
  21. You have obviously never driven a car on a race track.... Pretty much. So what makes a car good then? All comes down to personal taste I guess, its about as pointless as argueing that south american cichlids are better than africans.
  22. Perhaps corners are a replacement for displacement then?
