    worms????

Oh sorry was typing in a rush I added the stuff to make it more alkaline. It was just a colour ph test and it was yellow which was highly acidic I tested my fry tank which was set up using local water and it was completely neutral so it wasnt the water from the tap that is acidic. My sis says that it understandable that they could be there from overfeeding but my question is where did there they come from and how did they get there? Thats something I don't understand!!!

    worms????

I gave my sisters tank a gravel siphon and water change yesterday and in the water I siphoned out I noticed that there were tiny thread worms (at first I thought they were hair but then I noticed that they moved) Does anyone know what they are and if they're bad? And if they are bad how to get rid of them? She said her fighter had recently died. I tested the water acidity (it was the only test available) and it was really acid so I used ph down and did a 30 percent water change. I have seen them in the tank since so they are definately still there. I'll be in auckland at my sisters for the rest of the week to help her out so any tips will be appreciated! Her tank is an aqua one AR380 and everything from the tank to the gravel, stones and fish have been purchased from hollywood fish farms. She has 15 neon tetras, 2 britstlenoses, and 3 platys.
  5. I had a similar incident 2day...found one of my mountain minnows dried up on the floor 2day...dunno how she got out though because my lids completely cover the tank!

    feeding bbs

oh that sux! with ur fry dying it could be because u rnt doing frequent enough water changes...I do a 20% water change on my fry tank twice daily and so far the death rate has been very minimal I do this before I feed the bbs so then the dead ones get sucked up into the siphon...also the guy selling bs eggs says that no the bs shells are not bad the filter should get rid of this and it wont pollute the tank.

are you rinsing them in fresh water first?
  8. Ok cool thanks for the advice the pic is actually of the 1st lot which did survive till I accidentally fed them to my community fish...But this lot are pretty much in the same place haha...note to self buy a new camera so that I can take pics for you to view!!!!
  9. The male looks golden but they both have black stripes which dissapear when they come out into full light.
  10. umm wild type I think? heres a pic: Sorry about the quality
  11. Came home today to find that my angels have layed more eggs!!!!! These are on the filter (again!) so will have to leave there for now. Might leave them in with the parents when they are hatched too and see what happens untill I have another fry tank setup. Thats all
  12. Ok I have done a google search on sexing guppy fry however they are all for coloured guppies and mine are albino...I realise that with them being only 5days old that they could still be too young however I want to know how to sex them asap so that when they are sexable I can separate the females.... so....does anybody know how to sex albino guppy fry?
  13. Well yesterday I decided to put my pregnant albino guppy in a fry tank and 5mins ago I noticed a baby fish being chased round in my community tank...although most had escpaed my crappy fry tank (note to self buy a net breeder) I did manage to save 6 and put them in my fry tank with my angel wrigglers they won't eat the wrigglers will they? But yeah am shocked at how big they are!!!! Didn't think that they'd be nearly as big as what they are! But yeah am happy !
  14. Nah theyr a mini plastic tank that goes into the bigger tank...if I had a net one then there wouldnt have been a problem oh and I found out what I did wrong...I put the bottem plate in upside down  lol
